I found and resolved the problem by accident. I had my Ultralite go nuts on me at strange times. But problem solved for the moment.Anywho. If someone could shed some light on how I might resolve this I would appreciate it. and onwards but why in 2008 I still have to mess around with IRQ's is beyond me. In the old days I used to have to set IRQ's etc in DOS, Win 3.1. But I don't really understand how in this day and age there should be IRQ conflicts. I should really find out how to resolve this properly and work out the IRQ stuff. the firewire card occasionally had an IRQ conflict with the on board network thinks. I tested this by enabling the network card and the problem came back. But to my great suprise, the MOTU worked perfectly and has done ever since. This was going to be an NO network, NO antivirus, NO everything except Reaper DAW install. But in optimizing XP for a pure DAW setup, I disabled the motherboard's built in network card (in device manager). I did a second install of XP on the second partition of my first hard drive. I bought an TI chipset firewire card and everything. They ran it for a week no problems, so they sent it back to me. I had problems straight away so I sent it back to them. All the level meters would jump up and down and send static and his out my monitors.
